Social-Emotional Learning

We recognize that academic success is deeply intertwined with students' social-emotional development. That's why we make Social Emotional Learning (SEL) an integral part of every program and grade level from kindergarten through 12th grade. Our comprehensive SEL curriculum teaches critical skills like self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.

Through interactive lessons, group activities, and opportunities for practice, students learn to understand and manage their emotions, show empathy, establish positive relationships, set goals, and make constructive choices. We believe building this vital foundation better equips students to excel academically while also preparing them for successful lives and careers.

Implementing SEL leads to improved attitudes about self and others, increased motivation and engagement, better behavior and attendance, and higher academic achievement. It creates a more positive school climate of respect, inclusion and community.

Most importantly, it gives students invaluable lifelong skills for navigating challenges, building resilience, and developing into thriving, emotionally intelligent adults.

By prioritizing the whole child through Social Emotional Learning across all our K-12 programs, Carver is fulfilling its mission to foster well-rounded students poised for endless growth and bright futures.
