Mark D. Feinberg, Carver donor and longtime volunteer — and a consummate wealth management advisor at Merrill Lynch, enthralled Carver students at Brien McMahon High School with his knowledge of financial management.

For the students, his term is Financial Empowerment.

Mr. Feinberg shared his insights into wealth building, investments, stocks and bonds, the power of saving early, and how compound interest transforms modest savings into great wealth over time.

Mr. Feinberg explained that each student would do well to possess the set of skills and knowledge that allows an individual to make informed and effective decisions with all of their financial resources and to effectively save for the future. Understanding basic financial concepts allows people to know how to navigate in the financial system. People with appropriate financial training make better financial decisions and manage money well.

Mr. Feinberg made the Charlotte Naomi Horblit Technology Center at the Carver Community Center possible several years ago by donating $472,000 to Carver. He made the donation because he said Carver has had a profound affect on him, having served as a camp counselor at the center as a teenager. Feinberg named the Carver Foundation as one of seven charitable beneficiaries of the estate of his late aunt, Charlotte Naomi Horblit of Chestnut Hill, Mass. Horblit was an advocate of educational programs for children.
