Isiah Gaddy exemplifies the values that shape and animate the Carver community

Isiah Gaddy is close to earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics from Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina. Isiah has been a member of the Shaw cross country team and of the Kappa Alpha Si Fraternity.

Isiah just finished a 10-week Business Transformation/Information Technology Internship at Lenovo in North Carolina. Lenovo is a multinational technology company that designs, develops, and manufactures computers, smartphones, workstations, servers, supercomputers, electronic storage devices, IT management software, and smart televisions.

During Isiah’s time at Shaw, he also worked for two years as a Rehabilitation Technician at A Small Miracle, a North Carolina Statewide agency that provides a comprehensive array of supports and services to children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Isiah previously worked for North Carolina’s Child Care Network as an Early Childhood Teacher Assistant.  

Shaw University is a private Baptist liberal arts institution. Shaw was the second HBCU in the Southern United States. It has been called the "mother of African-American colleges in North Carolina" as the founding presidents of North Carolina Central University, Elizabeth City State University, and Fayetteville State University are Shaw alumni.

Isiah graduated from Norwalk High School. He was an integral member of the Carver community growing up in Norwalk. After school and during the summers Isiah could always be found at the Carver Community Center. His aunt, Kimberly Gaddy, Director, Reporting & Analytics, Global Strategy & Operations at Gartner, is a member of the Carver Board of Directors.

Isiah worked as a Carver Summer Camp Supervisor at the Carver Community Center during his last two years in high school. As such, Isiah designed and implemented weekly schedules, activities, and programming for his campers in grades K through 5. He would also mentor our youth and tutor them in math, literacy and fitness.

Isiah exemplifies the values that shape and animate the Carver community. Isiah’s respect for others, honesty, self-discipline, hard work, love of learning, and appreciation of diversity will ensure that he continues to grow from strength to strength as he pursues his career.
