Pizza and cake party for CASPER kids to say goodbye to Dean McCloud

Dean McCloud, Carver Program Assistant in our CASPER after school program, is moving on to a new career in carpentry. Dean has served our CASPER kids with excellence for the past several years. Dean has also worked as a counselor for Carver’s Summer Enrichment Program at the Carver Community Center. Carver kids and staff will miss Dean’s quiet strength and encouraging presence.

Carver's 49th Annual Testimonial Dinner

Young people and their proud parents came together at the Carver Community Center for our 49th Annual Testimonial Dinner on Friday, June 7, 2019. Each year, the Carver Foundation of Norwalk awards Carver students, including current college students, with scholarships and recognition.

We give thanks for our high school volunteers

Many volunteers give of their time and energy to Carver kids each year. These tutors, mentors, homework helpers, career counselors, and other skill-specific project leaders offer their support, feedback and student praise. The Carver Community Center utilizes volunteers for community events such as Career Fairs, talent contests, student and family awards ceremonies, holiday celebrations, and food drives. Corporate teams produce daylong events for our youth and generously undertake extensive renovation and cleanup projects. Our student volunteers are especially helpful to our CASPER (K-5) kids at the Carver Community Center. Today there were four high school students: Nadia Torees, Emily Becerril and Sebastian Samperez, each 10th graders from Norwalk High School, and Samantha Cioffi, a 12th grader from Holy Child School in Rye, NY.

Norwalk Symphony Orchestra's NOT JUST FOR KIDS Returns!

Norwalk Symphony Orchestra’s (NSO) Not Just for Kids Program, a longtime Carver STEAM programming partner, expanded its contribution to six programs in Carver’s 2018/2019 school year! The new programming is conducted at Norwalk City Hall instead of at the Carver Community Center, though the beneficiaries remain Carver’s K-5 after school CASPER students.
