America's Promise is launching a new youth employment campaign!

America’s Promise is launching a new campaign called The YES Project—Young, Employed, and Successful—a national initiative bringing youth, employers, stakeholders, and advocates together to support, fuel, and grow a healthy and robust youth workforce. Their goal is to achieve full youth employment for young people aged 16 to 24 by 2030.

Gala Keynote Speaker: Tarik Brooks, Vice President, Office of the Chairman of Combs Enterprises

Our Keynote Speaker will be Tarik A. Brooks, Vice President, Office of the Chairman of Combs Enterprises. Mr. Brooks oversees the team that directly supports Chairman Sean “Diddy” Combs who received Carver’s Child of America award last year, and he serves as the primary interface across the Combs Enterprises companies and new business opportunities. Prior to Combs Enterprises, Tarik was the COO for the Account Management and Trading department at Bridgewater Associates. Mr. Brooks is a graduate of Howard University and Harvard Business School and he serves on the Carver Board Development Committee.

As part of a partnership effort with the Carver Foundation, Bankwell will be collecting new and “like new” luggage through Friday, April 5, at the 208 Elm St. and 156 Cherry St. branches in New Canaan and 370 Westport Ave. branch in Norwalk.

Carver receives the highest seal of approval from the merger of Guidestar and the Foundation Center

You may have heard that GuideStar and Foundation Center have joined forces. Now that they’ve become Candid, their commitment to promoting transparency is stronger than ever.

They have just released the 2019 Seals of Transparency on GuideStar, and Carver is one of the awardees. The Seal is a tangible way to demonstrate our organization’s commitment to transparency.

Child of America Gala, Friday, May 3rd

This year we will be honoring Ms. Theresa Rangel, Principal of Tracey Elementary School, with our Child of America award. Under Ms. Rangel’s leadership, Tracey Elementary School is one of only 14 schools in the entire state to win “distinction” status this year for both high performance and high growth in ELA and Math, for all students and for high needs students. Ms. Rangel’s school is also recognized nationally for being a School of Character, one of the first to establish a definitive connection between social-emotional learning and student achievement.
